One-on-one, tailored to you

Lessons adapt to each student’s development and come in 30-, 45-, and 60-minute slots — Monday, Tuesday & Thursday during the school year, from 9 AM to 9 PM.

Piano has been the mainstay of the Centre for decades, followed closely by guitar and voice. Whether your goal is worship, performance, or the pure joy of playing, our instructors meet students where they are.

How students are scheduled

Placement is based on: (1) date of paid registration; (2) whether the student is returning; and (3) preferred time, instructor availability, and area of interest. Registering early gives you the best choice of times.

Wind Ensemble classes

Classroom instruction for band instruments — brass, woodwind, and percussion — in the orchestra rehearsal room at Idlewild. A perfect fit for homeschool and after-school students who want to play in a group.

  • Beginning Band · ages 9–12Mondays & Thursdays, 3:30–4:25 PM (attend both days).
  • Beginning Band · ages 12–18Mondays & Thursdays, 4:30–5:25 PM (attend both days).
  • Intermediate Band · audition requiredMondays & Thursdays, 5:30–6:30 PM.

Strings classes

Group strings for young players

A joyful, group-based path into violin, viola, and cello — with a track for the youngest beginners and one for older students.

  • Ages 5–7Tuesdays, 4:30–5:00 PM. A gentle first introduction to bowed strings.
  • Ages 8+Tuesdays, 5:00–6:00 PM. Building fundamentals and reading skills.

Piano Explorers

A playful introduction to piano and general music for our youngest students — building rhythm, listening, and a love of music from the very start.

  • K5 through 1st gradeSmall groups of 4–8 students.

With daytime and after-school options — and band classes that start right at 3:30 — the Centre fits neatly into a homeschool week. Three homeschool co-ops already meet at Idlewild, and our band program is growing.
